Workforce Development
Recognizing that successful economic development goes hand in hand with an employer-driven, responsive workforce system, the Chamber has been instrumental in two significant workforce development initiatives.
Northshore Healthcare Alliance
The Northshore Healthcare Alliance (formerly known as the St. Tammany Healthcare Alliance) was formed in 2005 through the leadership and vision of the St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce. Comprised of the CEOs from the major hospitals throughout St. Tammany and Tangiahoa parishes, as well as St. Tammany's East and West Chambers of Commerce, the NHA is a coalition of key stakeholders working together to develop a strategic plan to effectively meet the demand for healthcare workers in St. Tammany. The Chamber's ongoing support of the NHA demonstrates a commitment to workforce development and the healthcare industry.
With the help of Executive Director Jan Robert, the Alliance is aligning workforce development, economic development and education to grow and sustain a qualified pool of individuals interested in healthcare careers. The Business & Career Solutions Center
The St. Tammany West Chamber and the Business & Career Solutions Center have formed a strategic alliance to link prospective employees with business workforce needs. This alliance has enabled the Chamber to serve as the “voice of business” in communicating labor market demands and giving businesses access to employee-related services such as on-the-job training assistance, incumbent worker training and other customized programs that the Business & Career Solutions Center provides.
The First Planning District Workforce Investment Board (WIB) operates the Business & Career Solutions Center in conjunction with the LA Department of Labor. For more information, visit the www.theBusinessSolutionsCenter.com.
