Governmental Affairs Committee
The Governmental Affairs Committee keeps a watchful eye on the big picture when it comes to Louisiana politics and notifies the Chamber Board when a specific position needs to be taken. Members monitor business-related legislation at the local, state, and federal levels and gauge its possible effects on the business community. This committee offers members a unique opportunity to meet with elected officials who are often guest speakers at meetings.
Northshore Legislative Alliance Committee
A subcommittee of the Governmental Affairs Committee, the Northshore Legislative Alliance Committee consists of appointees who serve as “boots on the ground” from both the St. Tammany West and East St. Tammany chambers.
In the spring of 2007, the Northshore Legislative Alliance committee, in partnership with the Northshore Business Council, hired a legislative advocate to achieve St. Tammany’s three top priorities: transportation and infrastructure funding, insurance reform and property tax reform.
