Our Board of Directors and active members appreciate the weekly opportunity to share Chamber news on Nola.com and each Sunday’s St. Tammany West community news section. We frequently get positive feedback from readers who learn about our efforts to promote and support local small businesses through our partnerships with LSBDC and SCORE, programs like Save Local Now, etc. Readers learn how we connect members at networking events, how we orient new members to learn about the benefits of membership by getting involved on a committee, or if time doesn’t permit that, how they benefit from the work of our superstar staff and from the active involvement of other members that fulfill our mission. Finally, readers learn about our voice of business, speaking up on issues of importance to all business owners and their employees, all residents of our communities.
It’s always busy in the halls of our Chamber. Following our big three events over the summer, which included Leadercast, EXPO and Southern Nights, committee members and staff focus has turned to membership development. As mentioned previously in this column, our membership numbers have continued to grow, and we are grateful that so many businesses have decided to invest in our mission of strengthening the economic climate of our community.
After wrapping up a very successful U.S. Senate Forum which featured the top 5 polling candidates for that office, plans are now in the making for our annual Business Appreciation Luncheon on November 16, and a Healthcare Luncheon featuring the CEOs of area hospitals on December 6. Registrations for both luncheons can be made online or by calling 985-892-3216.
While many small business owners are not always able to attend some of our events, the value of Chamber membership is appreciated and understood by loyal supporters who do stay aware and on top of the issues we are addressing on their behalf. We have a large percentage of long-term members who know that we are helping commerce and connectivity occur in our daily work. Interest is high in being part of the business organization that connects people throughout St. Tammany, so if you are ready to join our ranks, give us a call and we can help make those connections!
