As part of fulfilling our mission as the "Voice of Business", we announce the launch of a new governmental affairs website portal, “Stand Up St. Tammany,” devoted to public policy issues, legislative alerts and contact information for elected officials.
Grassroots use of the site and its capability to simply send pre-drafted letters to state or federal lawmakers will be encouraged in the coming months. In the meantime it will allow users one site to go to for local or national news of concern, for example, the upcoming Mandeville mayor’s election, or the Governor’s K-12 Education Reform package. The site will eventually contain information about our position on different issues and will also provide direct access to elected officials at all levels of government through an instant messaging program made available through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Citizens can also access a variety of voter resources, including print-ready voter registration forms and absentee ballots, as well as look up elected officials and candidates for upcoming elections. Watch for more development on the site as the state legislative session draws near in March.
