Joint Cultural Economy Committee
seeks grant opportunity
to help artists
The Joint Cultural Economy Committee of the St. Tammany West and East St. Tammany chambers is working with the St. Tammany Parish Commission on Cultural Affairs (formerly the St. Tammany Parish Arts Commission) to become a source of funding for arts business owners and other cultural entrepreneurs. Under a new cooperative endeavor agreement, the Committee may apply for a grant from the STPCCA, which the Committee could then offer to individual artists or cultural business owners who are members of either Chamber.
The Committee would apply to the parish for a stated amount up to $5,000. If awarded, the Committee would develop its own grant application guidelines for prospective recipients. The recipient would use the funds for a purpose stated in his or her grant application, such as consultative services concerning business development, financing, legal issues or other aspects of business operation. Applicants could apply as many times as they wish throughout the year for the parish grant, until the maximum annual limit is reached.
