About the Chamber

Our Mission

Our mission is to strengthen the business climate of west St. Tammany by promoting the community’s continued development and enhancing the economic vitality of the region. We support our member businesses in a variety of ways, providing peer-to-peer networking opportunities, educating the public at large on issues of importance and advocating for favorable laws within the state legislature.

Our Members

We’re comprised of more than 1,000 businesses that call St. Tammany West home, from multi-national corporations who have established their bases here to local product and service storefronts that are the backbone of the community. No matter where your business fits in, you can count on the Chamber to promote your interests and make sure your voice is heard.

Your Business Interests

The Chamber concentrates on three critical areas of service to our members: to act as the “voice of business”; to provide business support; and to build coalitions. Our current efforts are focused on transportation funding and improvements; property taxes; insurance reform as it relates to disaster recovery; marketing and educational seminars; and ongoing communication and information about important happenings in the business community and more.

Recent Accomplishments

The St. Tammany West Chamber has initiated or taken positive action on behalf of our members in these key areas:

  • Called for consolidation of levee boards and Orleans Parish tax assessors.
  • Called for tax equalization to keep businesses in Louisiana.
  • Supported parish government’s Roadwork Tax Renewal for unincorporated areas and took a leadership role in the expansion of Highway 190.
  • Organized the Southeast Louisiana Business Coalition from local chambers and economic agencies for greater political leverage.
  • Joined the U.S. Chamber Federation Partnership for access to wider member benefits and federal advocacy efforts.
  • Led the development of the St. Tammany Healthcare Alliance and formed a strategic partnership with the Business & Career Solutions Center to promote workforce development on the Northshore.
  • Lobbied for Northshore Healthcare Education Center in partnership with the St. Tammany Healthcare Alliance, SLU, Delgado, Louisiana Technical College and others.
  • Led the formation of a Joint Public Policy Committee in partnership with the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce and Northshore Business Council and hired a legislative advocate to monitor issues affecting both.
